About Emmanuel Turner
Emmanuel Turner
watercolourists
Emmanuel Turner was born on the near south side of CHICAGO in 1942 and was continually encouraged to draw by his mother. She encouraged Mr. Turner, along with his three brothers,to keep busy and out of any mischief. While in grade school, in Emmanuel's science class he began learning about biology and drew many illustrations of projects, this is where he discovered his love of drawing.
During his free time, while enlisted in the military, he had an opportunity to continue drawing further working on his skills and techniques. He had discovered that drawing the female form to be most challenging.
After the military and several jobs,Emmanuel began a career working for the railroad. He worked in the railroad industry for 32 years. Upon retirement, he relocated with his wife to Park Forest,Illinois.
Emmanuel still continued to draw and with his wife fully knowing his love for art, suggested and encouraged him to take a local art class where he could continue to learn and advance his talent, including stretching out into painting. She offered to pay for his first session and said that he could stop if he didn't have a feel for the class. Emmanuel chose a watercolor class because figured it would be a cheaper alternative and if he didn't care for painting it would not have been such a financial investment. He learned two things after his first session, it was not as inexpensive as he believed and most importantly, he fell in love with watercolor. He has remained a student for the pass 13 years under the tutelage and guidance of Claire Wiest of the Tall Grass Art School in Park Forest.
Emmanuel truly developed a love and passion for watercolor. He uses each brush stroke to the fullest and paints with true deep and rich colors,it has become his trademark. He truly believes that you cannot be afraid to paint deep, dark and maximizing all the colors.
Emmanuel is a member of the Illinois Watercolor Society and Union Street Gallery in Chicago Heights,Illinois.
